Candy Cane Cookies
Ginnilee P. Berger
These are normal sugar cookies with crushed candy cane pieces
added. A perfect recipe to make with children.
¼lb. Butter
¾ cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 Tbs. Cream
1 ¼ cup flour
1/8 tsp. Salt
¼ tsp. Baking powder
1 jumbo candy cane stick
Preheat the oven to 350F. Crush the candy cane with a hammer
inside a heavy cloth sack. Cream the butter and gradually add the
sugar, beating until light. Add the egg, vanilla and cream,
beating thoroughly. Mix the flour, salt and baking powder
together, adding it to the first mixture and blend. Add the candy
cane- if using a mixer -be careful when adding the candy cane, you
may need to add a little more vanilla and cream if it gets too
stiff. This is often difficult to mix by hand, so I do advise
using a stand mixer rather than a hand mixer.
When everything is mixed, take a superball sized piece of
dough, rolling it between your hands into a snake form, then place
on cookie sheet and shape into traditional candy cane crook shape.
Taking a round-handled wooden spoon, press diagonally across the
candy cane to make an indent, then sprinkle indents with red dyed
sugar crystals. Very popular with children and adults alike.

Sugar
Cookies
Submitted by Jane
I have a great
sugar cookie recipe! We all love them, soft and chewy and
moist....
Its also an easy recipe to do.
In a bowl, toss in;
1/2 cup of butter
1/2 cup of shortening
cream it
Then toss in;
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
mix together till creamy
Then put in;
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Mix...
Then slowly add 2 1/2 cups of flour.
Mix till smooth.
Finally add 2 TBLS. of milk, mix
again.
Drop onto an ungreased cookie sheet
by spoon, dip the bottom of a smooth cup or custard cup onto one
of the cookies to get it greasy, then dip into sugar.
Use this cup to flatten each
cookie, dipping it into the sugar for each cookie.
Bake at 400 degrees for
7 mins.
If you like a crisper cookie, bake
for 9 to 10 minutes.
