This is a summer
feeding station, situated in a quiet corner of the yard, close to
the brush piles. Having a crushed gravel base makes it easy to
keep clean of seed hulls. |

This is the same
station as on the left, but looking from the other side towards
the area that's been left to grow wild. |
|
|
As
unsightly as this may appear, it serves a definite purpose. These are two
of the three brush piles I have in the yard. Each pile seems to grow every spring
as tree trimming takes place. The birds absolutely love these piles,
scurrying back and forth to the feeders and taking afternoon naps. My
Christmas trees from many past years also end up here. Another great site
to get away from those hawks!
