Mock Stuffed Cabbage Casserole
        
      
 
      
        1 LB. Ground Beef
      
      
        1 C. Instant rice, cooked
      
      
        1 Pkg. Onion Soup Mix
      
      
        1 Can Tomato Soup & 1 can water
      
      
        1/4-1/3  Med. head Cabbage, coarsely chopped or sliced
      
      
        1 Can diced tomatoes (Optional... this is not in the original recipe I
        got but a nice addition)
      
      
         
      
      
        Brown Meat in a large frying pan, (drain fat),  Add Onion soup Mix
        and 1 Cup water, simmer 5 minutes.
      
      
        Add rice, and diced tomatoes, blend evenly.
      
      
        Grease casserole dish (9x13) or small roaster.
      
      
        Layer 1/3 of cabbage and 1/2 of meat mixture, alternating (you end up
        with 4 layers)
      
      
        Mix tomato soup with water and pour over casserole
      
      
         
      
      
        Cover and bake @ 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
      
      
        Lower temp to 325 degrees and bake for an additional hour.
      
      
        If it appears dry- lower temp to 300 deg. and add a little water.
      
      
         
      
      
        Total cooking time 1 1/2 hours
