Little
Things We Can Do For
Others...... |
We can all
use a helping hand once in a while. We all have bad
days.
All it takes sometimes is a smile from a kind hearted soul
that walks
past us on the street, the nod of a head to let us know that
somebody
can see us and acknowledges us. In that light, this
section is being developed.
Little
Things We Can Do For Others....nothing big, nothing
major,
nothing expensive...things that don't take much time or
energy,
but things that can make the difference to someone's
life,
that could mean the difference between them having a
bad day or a great day!
Please write to me with your "Little
Things" so
we can all share and
help to make someone else's life a wee bit better today :)

There is a lady in Mississauga, Ontario, who always, when
she goes thru a McD drive-through on the way to work in the
morning, also pays for the order of the car behind her? She
said it's never all that much, usually a coffee and a muffin
or something, and people apparently react so much...even the
drive-through staff do....she said she likes to see all the
happy faces.

For my ex-coworkers, with whom I have little contact, but who
I know work like dogs this time of year, I bought a little
crate of Clementines, gussied it up a little, and dropped a
bunch of gold-chocolate coins (8 for a buck at the dollar
store) on top, with a card.

A few years ago, on a very hot/humid summer day, I was picking
up some cleaning at my local Dry Cleaners. The poor women that
were working were SO hot. They were sweating and looked ready
to collapse. On my way home, I stopped at my grocery store,
bought a container of ice cream and some plastic spoons, then
drove back to the Dry Cleaners and gave the ladies their cool
treat. They loved it!

When I was living in a Mobile Home
Park, there was an elderly woman (close to
90 years old), who lived about 3 or 4 doors down from
me. I had been so
sick with FM/CFIDS, I couldn't get out of bed most of the time
and I became very
depressed.
This incredibly lively and intelligent lady came to my door
one morning and
when I answered it, she greeted me with a bouquet of Double
Delight Roses (now
my favorite) that she had picked from her garden.
She could barely walk herself, but she took the time to cut
them and walk
down the street and up the stairs to my door to deliver them.
She did this
several times over the course of 4 years and I was always
grateful, but too sick to
return the favor.
When I learned that she had passed away, I was so sad and felt
guilty for
never reciprocating her kind gestures. Then one day her
daughter came to visit
me and we talked about her mom for a long time and I told her
I wished I could
have done something nice for her as well.
"But you did." she said "It was one of the best
parts of her day! She loved
the fact that you always smiled and hugged her and talked with
her when she
came over. She knew how sick you were, but she always
told me she loved seeing
your face light up when you saw the roses. She also
enjoyed walking past your
house and seeing them displayed so that anyone passing by
could see them from
your window. So you made her happy as well because you
cherished the gift.
It was an act of love on both sides."
