SOUPER
TOMATO SOUP
1-46 oz. can V-8 Juice, or larger (regular or low sodium )
1 lg. can diced tomatoes
6 or more ( I used more )stalks of celery, chopped
1/2 medium head or more, green or red cabbage-chopped or sliced
1 med/lg. onion chopped (vidalia is good)
6 medium carrots, sliced or baby carrots or even shredded carrots
2 medium green peppers-chopped ( or red/yellow )
1 envelope lipton beefy onion soup( I used 2 )
1 14 oz. or bigger swanson's lower sodium beef broth ( any brand)
1 beef bouillon cube (or more when soup is done and you think it
might need more )
1 tsp. garlic powder ( i used diced garlic from a jar and put in a
TBSP. or more )
1 TSP. black pepper or more
Chop and dice veggies. Add all ingredients into a large stock pot.
Add water if necessary to bring liquids to almost twice the depth of
the veggies in the pot. Bring to a boil and then stir as needed.
cook on low for 2 hours or until all veggies are soft. You can add
parsley or any other herbs to suit your taste. NO SALT!
A 1 cup serving should equal approx. 50 cals, cals from fat 3, total
fat 0.3 G, saturated fat 0 G, cholesterol 0, sodium 472 (plus a bit
more if using bigger cans of juice and 2 envelopes of dry soup )
total carbs 10.1 grams, dietary fibre 2.6 and protein 1.7
These are all approximate.
You can safely keep soup in frig for 1 week.
SOUP DIET
Day 1- Any FRUITS you want except NO BANANAS.
Eat all the Souper soup you want all day.
Day 2- All the VEGGIES you want, baked potato with
margerine for
dinner- and eat all the soup you want all day.
Day 3- Combine day 1 and 2 BUT NO POTATO, eat all the
soup you want.
Day 4- Up to 6 BANANAS, all the skim milk you want
plus all the soup.
Day 5- 10 to 20 ozs. of beef, chicken or fish, a small
can ( or
fresh ) of tomatoes and all the soup.
Day 6- All the beef, chicken or fish and veggies you
want, plus the
soup.
Day 7- Up to 1 cup of BROWN rice at both lunch and
dinner, up to 12
ozs. of UNSWEETENED fruit juice and all the NON-STARCHY VEGGIES you
want ( no potatoes or beans etc. ) plus all the soup.
Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day or more.
You can add lemon, vinegar, herbs, soy sauce, Worcestershire,
ketchup or mustard to your foods to suit your taste.
NO FRIED meats...all must be baked, grilled or
broiled. Steamed
veggies are best.
NO BREAD, ALCOHOL, or Carbonated drinks for the 7
days, not even diet soda! Coffee or tea should pref. be decaf but
doesn't have to be, NO SUGAR, use Splenda or whatever.
There can be excess GAS so stock up on Beano or gasx ahead of time
On the days you can have other foods, they can be added to your soup
if you want. On the banana day you can make a shake with the bananas
and skim milk.
