CHILDREN FIRST ROUNDTABLE HONOURS DR. TODD PLEXMAN
FOR HIS CONTRIBUTION TO CHILDREN. |

As part of its Public Recognition Awards, the Mayor and Council’s
“Children First” Roundtable today recognized the outstanding
contribution of Dr. Todd Plexman to the lives of Greater Sudbury children.
On behalf of Mayor Jim Gordon and City Council, Roundtable Co-Chairs,
Councillor Louise Portelance and Janet Gasparini, honoured the Sudbury
dentist in a special ceremony at his office. Mayor Gordon commented:
“Dr. Plexman has the health, comfort and safety of children in his care
very much in mind. He works compassionately every day to make sure they
enjoy their visit to the dentist.”
Harsh Nath, who nominated Dr. Plexman, says his friendly, pleasant
personality puts children at ease. By taking them around his office and
letting them play with selected equipment, he makes them comfortable with
what to expect at the dentist when they go for treatment. And he’s not
the only child-friendly person in his family. Mrs. Charlene Plexman is
active as a board member and volunteer with Maple Tree Preschool. Harsh
Nath comments, “The Plexmans have been a model children-loving family
and show that at their work and in the community.”
Sally Spence, Chair of the Public Recognition Committee for the
‘Children First’ Roundtable, says many other individuals, businesses
and organizations will be honoured. “We want to acknowledge and express
sincere appreciation to people and groups that display outstanding effort
and success in putting Children First.” Normally, each month before the
Roundtable’s regular meeting, a “featured nominee” is recognized,
but everyone nominated receives a letter from Mayor Gordon and a
recognition certificate.
Nomination forms can be obtained by calling 671-CITY, ext. 4313 or 4109.
Criteria for nomination include: recognizing the diversity and uniqueness
of all children; treating children with respect and compassion; empowering
children to make good decisions; helping parents become well-informed and
participatory; helping children become good leaders; protecting children
and helping them to be safe and well; promoting caring, sharing and
cooperation; recognizing and being sensitive to the needs of families;
incorporating humour and fun into the environment. |
