CANADIAN TIRE CHELMSFORD NAMED FEATURED NOMINEE FOR
NOVEMBER |
|
As part of its public recognition program, the Mayor and Council’s
“Children First” Roundtable today recognized the outstanding
contribution of Canadian Tire’s Chelmsford Store to the lives of Greater
Sudbury children. On behalf of Mayor Jim Gordon and City Council,
Councillor Louise Portelance, Roundtable Co-Chair, honoured the store’s
owner, management and staff. Mayor Gordon commented: “I’m very proud
of this great team – René Veilleux, Mark Wanka, Denise Laurence and
staff – who nurture our community’s children and their families
through their continued generous donations and support.”
Not only does the team contribute financially to many groups serving
Greater Sudbury children and families, including Our Children, Our Future/Nos
enfants, notre avenir; and Services de garde de Rayside-Balfour. The staff
team also contribute their own time to fund-raise through barbeques, car
washes and other events to benefit children. The owner and management of
Canadian Tire Chelmsford consider themselves a family-friendly employer:
they are “about families.” They also continuously link to the Canadian
Tire Foundation for Families on behalf of the community.
Sally Spence, Chair of the Public Recognition Committee of the Roundtable,
says, “There are so many individuals and organizations in Greater
Sudbury doing outstanding work with children. We’d like to recognize as
many of them as we can.” The Roundtable honours one outstanding nominee
each month, but everyone nominated receives a letter from Mayor Gordon and
a recognition certificate. Nomination forms can be obtained by calling
671-CITY, ext. 4313 or 4109. |
