distributed every Tuesday to thousands of people, most of whom
reside in Valley East, Capreol, and the Greater Sudbury Area.
While many of the articles focus on the accomplishments

Dear Mr.
Kirwan:
Re: Your article, "Every
Decision You Make..."
I made a decision in January 2006 to put up a
puppy barrier within our home and like your
article stated, I did meet some great people as a
result...an orthopedic surgeon; some wonderful
nurses; three ambulance workers, and; a nice
physiotherapist. And to top it all off, I now have
a nice new stainless steel shoulder.
Sandy Kelly
P.S. All puppy barriers should be at least
waist-high!! Not trip-high! |

EDITORIAL
OF THE WEEK
by Robert Kirwan
Thank
You For Showing Us How To Build Our ‘House” John
Lancia
I’ve
met a lot of people over the course of my lifetime. Some
I remember with fondness and some I would rather forget.
A little over two years ago, when I began working as the
Marketing Manager for the Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre,
I met a quiet, unassuming gentleman who has taught me a
lot more about life than he can ever imagine. For

2006 ELECTION ISSUES |
A special section of Valley East Today has been developed to highlight
the major issues which are of concern to local residents as we
head into the 2006 Municipal Elections. A new issue or two will
be added every week until the election is upon us. This will
help residents search for answers and determine who to vote for on
November 13, 2006.

FEATURE
ELECTION ISSUE OF THE WEEK |
Neighbourhood
playgrounds should be funded, maintained, and
fully-staffed by the City in order for them to play a more
important role in the image and character of our community.
We
will find the necessary funding to staff and maintain our
neighbourhood playgrounds and improve the quality of life of our
young families and their children.
This should not be left in the hands of volunteers. It is too
important a service and must be under proper supervision.
Neighbourhood playgrounds are a 'right' of citizens - not a 'privilege'.
