Are you considering a new career?
Are you unemployed and looking for work?
Are you looking for your first job?
Are you retired and looking for another career opportunity?
It really doesn't matter where you are in the cycle of life, a Career
Advisor can provide you with valuable guidance and resources to help you
make productive and appropriate career decisions.
Some of the specific services that are available through a Career
Advisor include: |
|
ASSESSMENT & SETTING
CAREER GOALS |
Individuals are expected to make important
career decisions while they are still in elementary school. They are often
required to select secondary school subjects and academic levels before
graduating from elementary school, and those decisions will have a
significant impact on their future at a time for most when they have
absolutely no clue what they want to do for a living when they complete
their formal education.
As your Career Advisor, one of my first responsibilities is to help you
clarify your skills, values, interests and personality type to
identify meaningful work compatible with your personal criteria and
lifestyle requirements.
Selecting the right career goals is the first step in a long road to
finally entering a satisfying career at the end of your schooling. Visit
the chapter on this web site that deals with finding the right career for
more information on the steps that will help you identify one or more
career clusters that will be right for you.

THE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION EVERY
STUDENT MUST CONSIDER.... |
What kind of career do you
want to enter after you are finished your formal education?
|
|
THIS IS THE STARTING POINT |
|
|
EDUCATION & TRAINING |
Once you have decided upon your career goals,
it is then important to make appropriate choices with respect to your
formal education and training in order to position yourself to obtain the
necessary qualifications for your career.
As your Career Advisor, it is my responsibility to help you determine
the school that will best meet your needs.

WHAT KIND OF EDUCATION DO YOU
REQUIRE TO GET INTO YOUR CHOSEN CAREER? |
Where Will You Go
To Obtain The Proper Education & Training For Your Career?
|
|
THE
PROPER SCHOOL IS CRITICAL |
|
|
ACADEMIC TUTORING & MENTORING |
It is also my responsibility to ensure that
you are utilizing all of the tools and resources at your disposal in order
to get the most out of that education and training.
If you are having difficulty with the curriculum, that will include
finding personal tutors and mentors who will help you complete your
studies and obtain the best possible grade in the process. Sometimes, all
it takes is an hour a week with a private tutor to help you keep up with
your studies and obtain high grades which will serve you well as you are
searching for an entry point into your new career.
|
WILL YOU NEED SOME PRIVATE
TUTORING OR MENTORING TO COMPLETE YOUR STUDIES? |
At times you will
require some outside tutoring in order to help you complete your
studies.

KNOWLEDGE
IS THE KEY |
|
|
STRATEGIC PLANNING |
One of my most important responsibilities as a
Career Advisor is to develop a Strategic Career Plan which will enable you
to be in the best possible position to enter your chosen career as soon as
you complete your formal education and training.
This involves many different elements including the development skills
such as networking, resume writing, interviewing, researching employers,
following industry trends, and even uncovering the hidden job
market.
Having a Career Advisor will ensure that you will have clarity and
direction to your career plan. It will help you save time and money as you
access career resources, information and techniques recommended by your
professional career advisor. A Career Advisor will also give you an
objective point of view and constructive feedback in analyzing your
skills, marketing materials and job search preparedness.
When you have a Career Advisor, you always have someone with whom to
discuss your plans and any concerns that may crop up along the way.
The fee charged by a Career Advisor can be well worth the cost when you
consider how much time, effort and money you will save by making wise
choices along the way to your career. For example, an annual fee of $150
plus $50 an hour for a monthly appointment to review your progress is a
small price to pay for the peace of mind that comes from knowing that you
are on the right road to a satisfying and successful career.
|
ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR EDUCATION AND
TRAINING, HOW WILL YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR CHOSEN CAREER? |
The best chance of
getting started in your chosen career is to have a master plan from
the beginning.
