1. Secondary School Students in Ontario must accumulate 40 hours of
community volunteer service before graduating at the end of
Grade 12.
2. City Page is associated
with another web site called StudentPage.ca.
3. After your school is registered with Student
Page, we will be contacting your Principal and asking if we
can offer students at the school a chance to earn community
volunteer service hours by submitting articles about the community to
our City Page.
4. We all know that there are a lot of good
people living in your community. We want you to go out and find these people. We then want you to take
a picture (or get one from the individual or group) and write a nice story about the work they are doing
or the organization with which they are involved. When you send us
this story and photo, we will post it on your community City
Page and give you credit as the writer.
5. We will make the necessary
arrangements with your Principal, but our
estimate is that each of these stories should be worth
approximately 4 hours of community volunteer service. The work you do should qualify as community volunteer service hours because it would be providing a service
that will benefit the community by giving recognition to the
volunteers and members of organizations who are making a difference in your community.
It
would also improve the image of your city since people from
all around the world will be able to read about the wonderful
things that are going on in your community. Several principals
have already given their endorsement of the project.
6. If your Principal approves of this method of
accumulating community volunteer service hours, we will
provide you with more specific directions as to the procedure
to be used at your particular school.
