The Valley East Waves sent 11 members to the
Regional ‘B’ Championships in Timmins recently and performed extremely
well in the pool competitions.
Ron Arbour swam his personal best times and ended
up in 5th place in the 50 metre fly.
Lexine Harvey took home the gold medal in the 50
Fly; a silver in each of the 100 Breast and 100 Back; and capped it off
with a bronze in the 200 Individual Medley.
Michelle Leger captured the silver medal in the
50 Breast and qualified for the “A” Championships. She then went on to
take a Bronze in the 100 Breast; finished 4th in the 200 Free
and ended up the competition with 5 personal best times out of her six
races.
Frank Louiseize finished in 6th place
in the 50 Free.
Amanda Windsor had an excellent meet with five
personal best times in her six races.
Lee Anne Menard and Gillian Russell had a
swimmer’s dream - a perfect meet with personal best times in all six of
their events.
Megan Villeneuve also had a perfect meet with six
personal best times; a 5th place finish in the 200 Individual
Medley; and then capped it
all off with a gold medal in the 100 Back, qualifying for the “A”
Championships.
The 13 & 14 Girls Medley Relay Team of Josee
Pilon, Stephanie Gobeil, Nataly Begin and Lee Ann Menard placed 4th
in their event.
The 11 & 12 Girls Medley Relay Team of Megan
Villeneuve, Michelle Leger, Josee Pilon, and Gillian Russell placed 5th.
The entire community of Valley East wishes the
trio of Eric Dupuis, Karly Roberts and Jamie Ellerton who will be
representing the Valley East Waves at the Junior Provincials which will be
held in Nepean on March 1 to 4.
On another front, three member
of the Valley East Waves represented their Secondary Schools at the
Ontario Secondary School Provincial Championships last week in Toronto.
Beau LaCroix and Cara Kirkpatrick swam for St. Charles College, while
Allison Ryan represented Marymount Academy.
