Vickie Perreault, Activity Director for Extendicare York, is shown with
Susan Mydonyk, owner of the Dollar
Klub, located in the Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre. Susan is one of
this year’s “Secret Santa’s”, a term of endearment used to
describe the many people and organizations which donate merchandise, time
and money to help brighten up the Christmas Season for many of the clients
at Extendicare York.
Situated
in the greater city of
Sudbury
,
Extendicare York is an accredited 288-bed, multi-level long-term care
centre with 24-hour nursing and supportive care, as well as in-house
rehabilitation services. As a means of enhancing the quality of life of
their clients, Extendicare York fosters dedicated partnerships with
various organizations and individuals, such as Susan, within the
community.
The
Christmas Stockings that were being prepared by Vickie and Susan consisted
of items that were provided through the generosity of both The Dollar
Klub, and one of the families from Extendicare York. The project was
initiated by a kind lady whose parents were living at Extendicare York.
Upon the passing of her mother, recently, both the daughter and her father
decided to do something “nice” for the residents and provided funding
to help purchase stockings which will be handed out on Christmas morning.
Vickie
informed us that there are many “Secret Santas” working behind the
scenes at Extendicare York. Each of them adds to the quality of life of
residents during this festive time of year.
Vickie
also wanted to remind everyone that the Annual Christmas Bazaar will be
held on
Friday, December 9, 2005
at Extendicare York which is located just beside the
Memorial
Hospital
in
Sudbury
between the hours of
11 a.m.
and
4 p.m.
While at the bazaar, visitors should consider getting a special Christmas
Wreath made-to-order right on the spot.
