Douglas Hanson, DDS
I have wanted to be a dentist for as long as I can remember, and
I truly love coming to work every day. I get the unique opportunity
to interact with my friends and neighbours, and help them achieve
their dental goals. I become a part of their lives, and have a
positive influence on their health. It’s a rewarding profession,
and one I wouldn’t trade for the world.
Education and Continuing Education
Before becoming a dentist, I attained my BSc from Laurentian
University in Sudbury, and my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree
from the University
of Toronto. I know that in order to provide quality dental care,
I must always learn about the latest dental methods and
technologies.
I actively pursue my continuing dental education with a primary
focus on comprehensive reconstructive and rehabilitation dentistry.
I also pay special attention to courses and seminars that teach the
latest innovations in esthetics, implants, CAD/CAM dentistry, sleep
disorders, and Invisalign® orthodontic aligners. My highest
priority is helping my patients attain and retain optimal oral
health for a lifetime, and my continuing education helps me do my
job efficiently and with more comfort for my patients.
In the Practice
I have been practicing dentistry since 1992, and love serving the
people of Valley East and Sudbury. A smaller community provides a
sense of familiarity that allows my clients to become like friends
in a lot of cases. I feel that as a dentist, I am part of our
community, and I always take the time to make sure my patients feel
right at home in our practice.
Dentistry can change lives in many ways. Oral health issues that
are detected and remedied early can often prevent painful
complications that can be expensive to fix. Relieving someone’s
discomfort or simply helping them have a relaxing visit is rewarding
for me, and my patients always appreciate what I do for them. I have
a positive influence on the lives of my patients, and they always
inspire me to do my best.
The team I have in my office helps me give the best care for my
patients. They love to laugh with our patients and hear about their
lives. My team truly cares about the people who come to see us, and
it shows in their compassion and care.
Family and Community
I grew up in Sudbury and Valley East, and love serving the
families of my hometown. My wife, Diane, and I have two children
named Taylor and Carter, and a cat named Andrew. When I am not in
the office, I enjoy travelling, snowmobiling, quading, coaching
minor sports, playing recreational hockey, and working out.
I am also active in our community, and my practice sponsors teams
and events in all minor sports with a special focus on hockey and
soccer. We also participate in Valley East Days, attend elementary
schools to do presentations on oral health, and attend secondary
schools to speak about careers in the dental field.
