Dear
Mr. Kirwan, ( January 24, 2001)
The staff and Community Advisory Committee
members of New Directions Clinic would like to express our appreciation for the
coverage you provided during Mental Illness Awareness Week. We enjoyed both
articles, the first being your editorial entitled, “Have you turned a life
around today?” and the second featuring the luncheon we sponsored, with the
presentation of the ‘People Helping People’ award to Dr. Routhier. Your
efforts will go a long way in promoting mental health awareness in our
community, and we are greatly appreciative.
Sincerely,
Diana Price, Clinic Manager
Diana:
Thank
you for your kind words, but it is the work that you and your staff are doing at
the New Directions Clinic that are making such a tremendous difference in our
community. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.
Dear
Robert Kirwan: (January 24, 2001)
I have been meaning to write and tell you how
much I enjoy your editorials. I am a senior citizen and one of my pleasures is
reading. I have put this off too long and so - this letter. Your message is
always on the mark. Please keep up the good work. I look forward each time the
Vision is placed in my mail box - to get home and read your editorial.
Thank you
Mary - Capreol
Mary:
You have no idea how much your kind words mean to me. Thank you for your letter. I hope I can continue to live up to your expectations.

My
wife Catherine Meyer is running for School Board Trustee in Area 3. I noticed
that the Vision Paper lacked information regarding the School Board Trustee race
in its paper, especially on it's election page. I also noticed that no one has
scheduled a debate for School Board Trustee candidates in Area 3. My wife who
was born and raised in Chelmsford is dedicated to the advancement of education
in both Area 3 and the entire Sudbury region. I take great offense that more
weight is being placed by the Vision Paper upon the election of the mayor and
councillors, during this time of province wide educational cutbacks, than upon
the education of our children!!!
Best
Regards,
Ed
Meyer

Recent
advertisements indicating an Association's sponsorship of specific candidates
for the upcoming municipal election may be interpreted as confusing. The
"Valley East Ratepayers Association" is in fact the existing
“Frenchman, Hanmer, Joe and Dixon Lakes Ratepayers Association”.
This association has approached council several time in the past years.
The
Association does not represent all the residents of the City of Valley East as
it only consists of property owners on Frenchman, Hanmer, Joe and Dixon Lakes.
