Valley East Soccer Club Registrations Signal An End To Winter

SoccerRegistration.jpg (54190 bytes)Who needs the groundhog to tell us when winter is over? Registration Day for the Valley East Soccer Club is a sure indication that the snow will soon be melted and the blades of grass being subjected to the pounding of soccer shoes. Here in the photo, Kim Sanderson, a member of the Board of Directors, is watching Della Campbell registering up her son, Alex (4) in the U6 Co-ed Division. Standing behind Della, is President of the Valley East Soccer Club, Randy Pascal. In the background is Giselle Haines, who readers may recall from a photo last year in which she was involved in a water fight with her players.

It is expected that close to 1200 young boys and girls ranging in age from 4 right up to adult, will again take to the fields this summer as soccer continues to benefit from tremendous popularity. The first game is scheduled for the week of May 21 with the playoffs scheduled to begin July 29, culminating with ‘Championship Weekend’ on August 9, 10 and 11. The 7th Annual Moncion’s Invitational Tournament will be held the weekend of June 21-23.

Randy Pascal, who is beginning his first of a two-year term, heads up a virtually brand new Board of Directors, with only two returning from last year. Secretary, Monique Philippe and Director, Kim Sanderson are the only two returnees. Besides Pascal, Vice-President, Richard Langlois; Treasurer, Sandra Desjardins; Regional Representative, Rick Larcher; and Directors, Ken Desjardins, Aline Bedard, David Chinn and Denis Leduc.

“It is definitely going to be a learning experience for us this year with so many newcomers on the Board, but we are going to do our best to maintain the high standards which have been set in the past,” explained Pascal. “We are hoping to continue to develop the 4 and under group and it is expected that our adult division will get even stronger since they are entering their second full seasons.”
