On
the left hand side, representing Clearview Golf Club, we have two of the
top male golfers in Valley East: Waldy Swiatek and Stacy Levac, squaring
off with Paul Gascon and Ray Clement, two of the top male golfers in
Chelmsford. This foursome led their respective teams in battle for the
coveted Loeb Cup - awarded annually to victors of the challenge match
between Clearview Golf Club and the Chelmsford Golf Club club champions.
When all the dust settled from the 24 individual matches which were
played over the two days of competition, Clearview had regained their
title with a 20 to 4 victory. It was the third time in five years that
the local club had won the cup. Chelmsford won it in the year 2000 and
one year the two clubs tied.
The event was held on May 12
and 13. The first day of competition was hosted by Clearview. When the
home club ended up with a 10 to 2 lead on Saturday, there was no holding
them back when they played the following day in Chelmsford.
Members of the winning team
included: Stacy Levac (Men’s Club Champion for 2000), Waldy Swiatek
(Men’s Runner Up), Ed Lemieux, Gates Piquette, Mac Brown, Reg Noel,
Gary Plummer, Dennis Taillefer, Paulette Carriere (Ladies’ Club
Champion for 2000), Cheri Ross, Paulette Bertrand and Val Miron. Members
