"An Afternoon With Oscar" Draws Hundreds of Spectators To Centennial Arena

Wizard of Oz.jpg (56797 bytes)The Annual Valley East Figure Skating Club’s Exhibition is a celebration of months of preparation and skill development by coaches and young skaters. This year’s show was entitled, “An Afternoon With Oscar”. The skaters shared some of the highlights of the film and music industry which have provided people with many memories over the course of the years. 

Shown above in the photo the four members who put on The Wizard of Oz, much to the delight of the audience. From the left we have, Samantha Barnard, Jessica Brisson, Allison Bruneau and Bre-Ann Viau. They were coached by Lisa Lenarduzzi-Savard.

During the afternoon, the spectators were treated to several memorable performances. Among them was the team which won Gold at InterClub 2001. They performed to “Singing in the Rain” and included: Anna Kretzschmar, Stephanie Bedard, Jennifer Jackson, Renee Desmarais, Lisa-Marie Kazulak, Ashley Piche, Holly Kretzschmar, Kristen Lepage, Casia Leblanc, Kayla Ryan, Samantha Garrison, Maxine Bernard and Danielle Coulombe. Their coach was Jana Doni.

The Bronze Medal winners at InterClub 2001 also performed during the afternoon to “Car Wash”. They included: Lori Walker, Rebecca LeBouthillier, Kristie Wright, Tiffany Brawley, Bre-Ann Viau, Allison Bruneau, Amy Rutherford, Sarah Peattie, Shannon McCormack, Nathalie Lebeau, Samantha Barnard and Jessica Brisson. This team was coached by Lisa Lenarduzzi-Savard.

Amy Rutherford skated a solo as “Belle” from Beauty and the Beast. Amy placed third at InterClub 2001, qualifying her for the Northern Section InterClub where she placed eighth.

The coaches who worked with the skaters from the club were: Lisa Lenarduzzi-Savard, Debbie Moyle, Melissa Wiman and Jana Doni.

Amateur coaches included: Lori Walker, Nathalie Lebeau, Sarah Peattie, Samantha Barnard, Amy Rutherford, Allison Bruneau, Bre-Ann Viau, Kristie Wright, Jessica Brisson, Shannon McCormack and Tiffany Brawley.
