The Valley East Soccer Club (VESC) hosted the sixth
Moncion’s Invitational Soccer Tournament on June 22, 23 and 24, 2001
at the Valley East Sports Complex.
The event was sponsored by Moncion’s Your Independent Grocer. The VESC wishes to extend sincere thanks to Linda and Marcel
Moncion for their ongoing support and generosity in sponsoring community
events. The Moncion’s Invitational Soccer has become a much
anticipated and enjoyable annual event in the Valley East Soccer

A tournament this size can only be successful with the help of
hard working volunteers. Hats
off to the Valley East Soccer Club executive, all the convenors, the
coaches and everyone who helped in one way or another. The Valley East Soccer Club would like to thank the
City of Greater Sudbury for its ongoing cooperation and the excellent
management of the soccer fields for the tournament and throughout the
year. Thanks to the
dedication and hard work of Dan Yachuck, Community Development Officer
for the City of Greater Sudbury, Richard Lebouthiller, Assitant Manager
of Arenas and Community Centres and Germain Lalonde, staff electrician
Valley East Section, for the first time in the club’s history, fields
#1 and #2 at the sports complex are now lit for night games.
A special presentation was made to these gentlemen prior to the
ribbon cutting ceremony. Sincere
thanks also go out to the former Valley East City Council and Grant
Electric for their assistance in this project. |
