“This man was the first mayor of the Town of Valley East from 1973 to 1978, and it is only fitting that his name live on forever on one of the buildings which symbolize this community,” explained Mayor John Robert during a special ceremony at the final council meeting on December 19.

“It is a great honour to have the arena named after me,” stated Plourde. “This makes my family very proud.”

The Confederation Arena in Val Caron will now be known as the Raymond Plourde Arena.
