Junior Golf Program Every Monday Night At Clearview Helps Move Club Into 3rd Place On Pepsi Tour

Click To EnlargeLise Leduc, CGTF Golf Instructor and Director of Golf Operations at Val Caron’s Clearview Golf Club, is shown just prior to going out for her weekly playing session with a group of juniors who are part of the Monday Night Junior Program at the club. Shown in the photo, from the left are: Josh Gelinas (13), Justine Gelinas (13), Lise, and Brad Wright (13). Each Monday at 4 p.m., between 20 and 30 junior boys and girls gather for a round of golf and some coaching advice. The cost is $2 if you are a member and $12 if you are a green fee player. Lise and several volunteer assistants give coaching tips to the players on various components of the game in an attempt at helping them better enjoy the sport. Lise also makes it a point to play a round with a different group each week in order to help them with game management, etiquette and the rules of play. If she sees someone having difficulty off the tee, she will spend ten or fifteen minutes at the driving nets with them. The program is co-ordinated by Ken Kauffeldt and Rick LeBouthillier. It is expected that the attention given to the Juniors will help them become more competitive on the Pepsi Tour, but the dividends seem to be coming much more quickly than anyone thought. The Clearview Pepsi Tour Team is currently (as of July 23) enjoying 3rd place out of 14 teams in the overall standings. They trail Sault Ste Marie and Blind River, but are in front of clubs such as the Idylwylde, Cedar Green, Lively and North Bay. The players on the tour are definitely making a mark on the competition.

Any junior member who is interested in taking part in the Monday Night Junior program should contact the pro shop at 897-6419 for more information.
