The
2nd Annual Capreol River Raft Race will be held on Sunday,
August 5. It will once again be featured as part of the 2001 Capreol
Days activities and is sponsored by Capreol Online. Individuals, groups,
clubs, non-profit organizations and businesses are invited to
participate. The goal is to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy
Association of Canada, promote Capreol, and provide a fun event for
participants, residents and visitors to the town during Capreol Days. Two
race classes have been established. The corporate class will feature
rafts sponsored by businesses. The recreation class will be for groups,
clubs and non-profit organizations. Entry fees for the corporate class
will be $100 and for the recreation class, $50. Registration forms must
be received by July 9, 2001. Each
raft entered must be constructed in accordance with the rules detailed
in the Rules document available at www.capreolonline.com An
annual trophy will be awarded to the corporate team with the fastest
time. There are four awards in the recreational category: The Fireball
Award to the crew finishing the race first in the finals; The
Firecracker Award, to the most spirited team; The Show Off Award for the
most creative raft design, and; The Titanic Award for the most
spectacular sinking or grounding. All crew members in both classes will
