8th Annual Mini Masters Golf Tournament A Big Hit With Youngsters

Vic Whissell, owner of the Valley Family Golf Centre in Blezard Valley, presents an award to Chris Taillefer, winner of the long drive competition at the 8th Annual Mini Masters Golf Tournament held on August 12. A total of 68 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 12 took part in the popular event. Action got under way at 10 a.m. with a six-hole golf tournament, followed by long drive and most accurate drive competitions. The day concluded with pizza, pop and donuts as well as prizes for all competitors.

Corey Leger ended up shooting a score of 22 to win the boys championship flight. The first flight winner, Phillip Bedard, shot a score of 29; 2nd flight honours went to Alex Balez with a score of 33; and the 3rd flight was won by Jackson Mullen with a round of 41.

Melanie Fenton won the girls championship flight with a round of 28. The 1st Flight in the girls went to Julie Carriere with a score of 40.

In the Long Drive Competition, besides Chris Taillefer, Nicole Deschamps won for the girls. The most accurate title went to Garrett Hamel for the boys and Nicole Deschamps for the girls.

Sue Gagnon won the best caddy award.
