After The Whistle is a web site that was
developed by Robert Kirwan and his sons, Ryan, Warren and
Marty. All three boys were minor hockey referees in the
Greater Sudbury District. Ryan refereed up to and including
the 'AAA' Midget level; Warren up to and including the
Northern Ontario Junior 'A' level; and Marty refereed in the
Ontario Junior Hockey League as well as some international
level games at the Under 17 level.
The Kirwan's decided to create a web site that
would provide a unique perspective on the game of hockey for
players, coaches, parents and fans of the game. You will
discover a whole new level of understanding as the stories,
articles, interviews and comments from people all over the
world reveal some insight into the nature of the game,
especially what happens "after the whistle".
'For The Sake of The Game' is a short online
publication that was written by Robert Kirwan. It describes
the nature of hockey from his eyes and helps readers
understand the game from the point of view of a referee and a
parent. This is definitely a good book for anyone who is
interested in the game of hockey.
